The US and North Korean leaders are likely to meet in Singapore in mid-June, according to South Korean media reports, as tensions ease on the Korean peninsula following the first inter-Korean summit in over a decade. Two sides have chosen the city-state as a third-party host, according to South Korean media reports.

Upcoming summit

The Washington Post revealed that Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea’s choice for the upcoming summit with the US president Donald Trump is The Fullerton's 'The President Suite' which is likely to cost the Singapore government USD 6,000 a night

The hotel refused to provide the room charge for the presidential suite. However, this week Kim Chang Son was seen at The Fullerton, a hotel in Singapore. He is the de facto chief of staff for the North Korean government.

It is said that he was in Singapore to meet US officials to work out logistics for the summit, according to the media reports.

The presidential suite

The Washington Post said that the Fullerton was North Korea's lodging of choice. The presidential suite may set the government back by at least 8,000 Singapore dollars ($6,000) a night.

Site of the summit

The Shangri-la Hotel, which hosted Indian Prime Minister and defense chiefs from around the world this weekend, and the Capella hotel on the resort island of Sentosa.

The 348-square meter Shangri-la Suite in the Valley Wing of the Shangri-la was priced at S$10,000 for the June 12 night. This was included among the potential venues mentioned as the site of the summit.

Security protection

There was no approval on the location for the meeting between the two leaders, Kim and Trump although there are a number of sites in Singapore that can guarantee security protection, including hotels that have experience hosting high-security events, said the local media and a Singapore government official.

Logistical challenges

Singapore will bear some of the cost of the planned summit between the US President Donald Trump and  North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as Kim Jong Un is short of the logistics.

Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea has never traveled away from home and Singapore is the farthest he has come and therefore the logistical challenges which include and Soviet-era aircraft to carry him and his limousine as well as dozens of security people. Typically Kim!
