No introduction is necessary for Leonardo DiCaprio. He is one of the most adored performers out there, and when he first debuted in Titanic, everyone was smitten by his charisma and beautiful features. Yet despite playing Jack, which propelled him to feature in Hollywood blockbusters, he has only appeared in 29 films throughout the course of his 30-year career. And as we learned that Leo had been in a lot less films than his contemporaries, we were curious in him and felt compelled to learn more about his life.
He was actually named after the renaissance genius, Leonardo Da Vinci
Leo's mother initially experienced his kicks during her pregnancy while gazing at an artwork by Leonardo da Vinci in Florence, Italy's Uffizi museum. This was seen by his parents as a sign, so they chose to give him the name Leonardo.
His agent, however, feared that his foreign-sounding name would make it difficult for him to find a role in hollywood.
Leo struggled to get an agent early in his career, and when he did, the agent advised him to change his name to Lenny Williams in order to better connect with American audiences. Leo declined, but that didn't work in his advantage because he remained jobless for 1.5 years despite attending 100 auditions. But happily, Leo finally met an agent who took him under his wing two years later, and luck began to smile back at him.
All his life, Leonardo DiCaprio has battled obsessive-compulsive disorder.
A person with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) feels the need to repeatedly do a particular action in order to "cope" with their obsessions. Leo makes a concerted effort to battle against his disease since he does not want it to rule his life. He fights off desires to repeatedly go through doorways and restrains himself from stepping on every chewing gum smear on pavements.
Leo purchased an island in 2009 with the goal of developing an eco-friendly resort.
Leo spent a staggering $1.75 million on a resort that would be totally self-sufficient, have 36 villas, and use solely renewable energy. His idea, however, did not go as planned, but eventually, after multiple delays in the construction process, building permits were granted.
While filming Blood Diamond in South Africa, Leo adopted a young South African girl from afar.
Despite the fact that he didn't bring her to Los Angeles, he nevertheless supports her and the group home where she currently resides by sending checks.
He once won an award for being the “worst actor.”
Leo has received numerous honors over his career, including a Razzie. He received the "Worst Screen Couple" award in 1999 for playing King Louis in the movie The Man in the Iron Mask.

He doesn't seem troubled by the age difference he has with his partners even now, at the age of 47. He has been seeing Camila Morrone, who is 22 years younger than him, for the past 4 years. However, he has dated women far younger than this before.

The last surviving passenger from the Titanic, Millvina Dean, who was also its youngest passenger, moved into a nursing home after breaking her hip. She had to sell Titanic items to raise money because she lacked the resources to pay the expenses. Kate and Leo contributed $30,000 to a charity established in her honor to cover the nursing care costs.
