Which city do you live in? Here we have a list of most honest cities out there. Is your city a part of this list? Well, you will have to go through this list to know about it.

The Experiment

Just to give you guys an idea, an experiment was conducted in the parks and shopping malls on the pavement in 16 cities: New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, Bucharest, Budapest, Helsinki, Lisbon, Ljubljana, London, Madrid, Moscow, Mumbai, Prague, Rio De Janeiro, Warsaw and Zurich.

So to say that these cities are selected from all across the world wouldn't be factually correct but they sure depict the nature of these cities. Here are the 9 best cities that came out on top in this experiment.

#9 London

As for what the experiment was, Around 200 pocket wallets with coupons, business cards and local currency worth around Rs 4,000 ($50) were kept in the parks and malls of the cities mentioned above.

London turned out to be the ninth best city in this experiment. 5 out of the 12 wallets were turned in!

#8 Ljubljana, Slovenia

The next city i.e. the eighth most honest city in the experiment was Slovenia's Ljubljana. Most of the wallets were returned but having said that, "a man in his early fifties picked up the billfold, started to dial his phone but then stopped, took the wallet, and drove off in an expensive car." Wow!

#7 Berlin, Germany!

The next city is Berlin. 6 out of 12 wallets were returned in Berlin. But that is just 50% of it! Not a great number if you think about iit1

#6 Amsterdam, Netherlands

The next city to fare decent in this test was Amsterdam. With 7 returned wallets out of 12, Amsterdam sure kept its reputation alive. Although some people will argue that it could've been more.

#5 Moscow, Russia

This cold city did better than most of the cities where the experiment was conducted. Pretty similar to Amsterdam, 7 wallets were returned here as well. Not bad!

#4 New York City, USA

It just maybe a surprise for you but New York did really well in this experiment. 8 out of the 12 dispersed wallets were returned here. Yes, most of the people in New York are honest.

Budapest, Hungary

The third best city in this experiment turned out to be Budapest. 8 wallets were returned here as well.

Mumbai, India

It isn't surprising that Mumbai turned out to be the second best city in this experiment with 9 returned wallets. It is regarded as one of the safest cities in the country as well.

Helsinki, Finland

And the most honest city according to this survey is Helsinki, Finland. 11 out of the 12 dropped wallets were returned. Barring that one, everything came back! Wow!
