Nobody finds it easy to live in the present; we always appear to be either in the past or the future. Celebrities adore pointing out contrasts and resemblances in "before and now" collages that take us back several years or decades, just like we do. A chance to assess our progress and the degree to which things have altered and remained the same is provided by looking back in time.

Scott Eastwood

Clint Eastwood is the man in the image on the wall, and the photo was taken in or around 1961, just before Eastwood became a household name. Scott, who continues in his father's acting career, transported us back in time. Given the uncanny parallels between the father and son, it appears that the only thing that has changed is the landline's conversion to a smartphone.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross is the second oldest of Diana Ross' five children, a well-known pop singer and actress. When Tracee came upon a photo of her mother wearing a statement necklace, she realized she already had one similar to it hidden in her wardrobe. She resurrected the image, which was originally taken of Diana in the 1970s or 1980s, and perfectly replicated it.

Matthew Hoffman and Olivia Munn

When visiting London, Mathew Hoffman and Olivia Munn dressed the part of tourists. The pair's clever reproduction brought the famous photo of Meghan Markle in front of Buckingham Palace (slide 3) into the present.

Jamie Lee Curtis

In order to advertise the television program Scream Queens, Jamie Lee Curtis imitated the well-known shower scene from Albert Hitchcock's Psycho starring her mother Janet Leigh.

Kate Winslet

Nearly 20 years after the release of Titanic, Kate Winslet appeared as a guest on Bear Grylls' survival program. The actress immediately wasted no time in recreating her and Leo's famous "I feel like I'm flying" scene as she down a rock under Grylls' instruction.

Avril Lavigne

We're listening to Sk8er Boy, "I'm With You," and "Complicated," three singles from Avril Lavigne's 2002 first album Let Go, again as we write this. These songs seem to have lasted the test of time. The singer managed to transport us back to the 2000s by recreating her legendary album cover 20 years later.

Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen vs Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow

Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield win the "going-down-in-history for the best side-eye" prize. The ladies were both at the height of their careers in 1957. Loren gave Mansfield the side-eye because she thought her outfit would be too revealing at a formal dinner affair.

The scenario was reenacted by Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen in a Modern Family episode from 2014. Sydney Sweeney and Maude Apatow carried on the tradition in 2021 and added their own spin to the infamous image.

Catherine Zeta-Jones with Michael Douglas & Co.

Despite having a 25-year age difference, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are a married pair who demonstrate that families that recreate photos together tend to stay together.
