South Korea is a world within itself. Unlike its famous Nothern Counterpart, atleast South Korean culture is known to the world due to its Kpop sensations, K dramas etc. The whole Asian wave is fuelled by South Korean cultural influence and while the whole world is just beginning to learn about them, there is also immense speculation about a lot of things they do. Some casual things that South Koreans do, are indeed very weird for the rest of the world!

AGE IS NOT JUST A NUMBER!

That's right, Its two numbers. TWO! Koreans calculate their age way differently from the rest of the world. Their calculation is basically working on the concept of the child is born at 1 years. Every time a Gregorian New Year starts, the child turns one year older. So basically if you are born on December 15th 1990, you will be 1 year at the time of your birth. A few days later, on 1st January 1991, you would become 2 years. Whereas for the rest of the world you will be less than a month old!

FAN BELIEFS!

There is a belief in South Korea that if a person sleeps with an electric fan on the whole night, he / she will pass away. Now no one really knows from where this belief came into being, but the truth is that it is as scary as weird!

FOOD DELIVERY!

Food delivery is big in South Korea. Almost all restaurants will deliver your chosen food to your place including cutlery. Once done eating, leave the dishes outside and the delivery guys will come back again to pick it up!

SLEEPERS!

South Koreans are trained from school days to sleep off anytime - anywhere. Their school education system is so tough and hectic that they learn the art of dozing off irrespective of the places, easily. After all kids in South Korea get only 4-5 hours of sleep!

LOVE MOTELS!

This is a strange concept. The country is heavily populated and cities are crowded. More often than not, young couples do not get alone time with each other. To encourage this, there are things called Love motels where couples can go and spend some time by themselves. Most countries will find this creepy and illegal, but not in South Korea!

TOILET PAPER!

Toilet paper can be used for multiple purposes. The world will want to disagree with this, but when in South Korea, it doesn't really matter what the product is, multiple uses are common. So next time you get a double ply paper for the bathroom, remember it can also be used in the kitchen!
