Armed forces are the first line of protection for any nation. In a world full of national conflicts and impending peace resolutions, no wonder these guys are the actual heroes. The Air Forces are ofcourse of utmost importance here and many countries actually deploy their finest people to these jobs. No wonder these ten countries are the finest air forces in the world!


Established in the year 1921, the Australians are by far the smallest yet smartest air force in the world. They have participated widely in some of the most secretive missions in the 20th century. With their power and fighting fleet with such advanced technologies, they have gained a reputation for being masters in warfare!


Germans have a reputation for being perfect and meticulous. With their airforce, one can certainly expect the best. Germans have some of the best strategies, pilots and technologies in their armed forces. Their pilots are best trained ones around the world usually seeking training in USA or Canada.


The Indian Air Force was formed 82 years ago and is still going strong. Having fought various successful wars for the country and constantly protecting the aerial frontiers, the indian Airforce has one of the largest personell counts in the world. With a whopping 139,576 active personnel and 140,000 reserve personnel, the numbers are surely promising!


the French Air and Space Force was formed in 1909 under the name Service Aéronautique, a service arm of the French Army. It was made independent in 1934. Today it has a strength of 41,160 personnel and 687 aircraft, of which 226 are combat aircraft.


The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) also known as the Chinese Air Force is the aerial service branch of the People's Liberation Army, the regular armed forces of the People's Republic of China. PLAFF opened in 1949 and is composed of 5 branches - aviation, anti-aircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles, radar and Airborne Corps. Today it is the larges air force in Asia, comprising of over 398,000 personnel!


The Israeli Air Force operates as the aerial warfare branch of the Israel Defense Forces. Founded in 1948, shortly after the Israeli Declaration of Independence, today the forces have over 34,000 active personnel and 55,000 reserve personnel.

The Japan Air Self-Defense Force is also popularly called the JASDF. JASDF currently with 50,324 personnel and over 745 aircraft. The branch also has an aerobatic team known as Blue Impulse and has provided air transport in UN peacekeeping missions.


Formed during the first World War, the Royal Air Force or RAF of United Kingdom is the worlds oldest Independent National Air Force and needless to say, one of the most powerful. In particular, it played a large part in the Second World War where it fought its most famous campaign, the Battle of Britain!


There is no doubt that Russian Armed Forces are among the best in the world. The Russian Air Force traces its roots back to the Imperial Russian Air Service of early 1900's. However the current air command was formed only in 1992. Today their personnel count is 148,000 and aircraft count is 4,163.


With the largest number of aircrafts at a whopping 5,047 manned aircraft and 406 ICBMs, USA indeed is the best air forces in the world! Their personall count currently supersedes 320,812 active duty airmen, 141,880 civilians 69,200 reserve airmen. The numbers itself are mind boggling, isn't it?
