Every country has its own quirks and even within the country, different communities or neighborhoods have their own little 'ways of living' Take for instance the British. Their style is so unique that you can spot them apart from a crowd. While they may be great in their own ways, there are a few things that British do that you just cannot get your head around - Take for instance their homes!!!

VENTILATION!

British love their fans. While the rest of the world has already moved on to Air conditioners and air purifiers, the traditional homes in Britain still like opening their windows to let in the air / using the fans if it gets too sultry indoors. Not that they cannot afford the more expensive mechanisms, its just that the region doesn't really require aircon at all!

YOU GOT MAIL!

Old British houses yet have the good ol' letter slot on their doors. While the rest of the world has moved on to post offices and common post boxes, Britain is still regaling in its old world charm. Who wouldn't want that cute letter popping in through the slit on the door, right?

SMALL GARAGES!

Earlier on the vehicles were pretty narrow and the older British traditionalists built homes and garages to suit their requirements at that time. Today, decades later, these garages are quite redundant and small/ stuffy for the vehicles people own. So the garage is used for something else - like storage room etc. and the vehicles are parked elsewhere!

BAY WINDOW!

Who doesn't like a cutie window like this right? But its so weird that it is a very uncommon style in most of our houses. This design is a typical British traditional home design where you have a little seating area by the window and you can sit, sip on some tea and watch the world go by!

DOOR OPENS INWARDS!

Most homes still maintain this! While the rest of the world has doors that open outwards, Britain has it the other way round. If you are inside the house and head to open the door, your door will open your way and not towards the visitor. If you didn't know this already, you may just spend a while figuring out this sorcery!

WHERE IS THE WASHING MACHINE?

Okay this is weird but strangely something that everyone of us should implement. In Britain there is a rule - Your electric sockets have to be 10 feet away from the bathing / washing space.

Since British houses are really compact and small, this becomes a problem. So washing machines are usually in the kitchens or some place else!
