The Bermuda Triangle is surely a spectacle of mystery. With its unsolved disappearances and surprising twists to tales, one can never be sure what really will happen in this region. These people who disappeared have never come back and while it does send shivers down our spine, the truth remains that the Bermuda triangle has some of the world's greatest mysteries tied around its name. Here are some of them!
THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THOMAS LYNCH, JR.
One of the first incidents recorded of a Bermuda Triangle disappearance was of Thomas Lynch Jr., A representative of South Caroline and one of the signers of the Declaration of the American Independence. He was sailing to West Indies in 1779 with his wife when he and the rest of the crew members went missing in a "mysterious" incident!
S.S. HEWITT
Boat disappearances are one of the most common mysteries linked to the Bermuda Triangle. It is not for nothing that people get spooked whenever they travel through this terrain. Boats, ships and aircrafts have been randomly disappearing in this region and no one seems to know why!
S.S. Hewitt set sail in 1921 from Sabine, Texas. It was heading to Portblair, Maine but it never reached its destination. After its final communication around Florida region, the signal for this boat was lost. No wreckage has been ever found in this region.
CARROLL A. DEERING
This ship was apparantly cursed and when it passed over the Bermuda Triangle, it went missing for a while. Apprantly, the captain got sick, the crew members were acting strange when they disembarked at North Carolina, and finally when it did reached Cape Hatteras, ship's log, navigation equipment, the crew's personal belongings, and lifeboats were gone.
USS CYCLOPS!
One of the biggest vessels to be built by the US NAVY was the USS CYCLOPS. Aptly named after the Greek giant, this one was supposed to be a warrior, never to go down. But it so happened that on 4 March 1918, the gigantic ship along with 306 of its members went down in a mysterious way. No one really knows what happened to the ship, except that since it happened during the World War I, it was assumed that the Germans captured the same. No confirmation ofcourse on this matter!
JOSHUA SOLCUM!
Joshua Slocum was known for his solo sailing expeditions. He was actually in the Bermuda Triangle when we disappeared as he traveled from Caribbean to Venezuala in 1909. He was missing for a while until declared legally demised in 1924! That's a long time to go missing without a trace!
STAR TIGER AND STAR ARIEL
Aircrafts Star Tiger and Star Ariel went missing with a total of 49 -50 people onboard. Both happened a year apart and in the month of January. Star Tiger went down in 1948 and Star Ariel in 1949. The wreckages of another aircraft of the same company were found in Andes mountains in 1998. This one had gone off the radar in 1947. No certainty of the Star aircrafts still!
