South Korea may not be as strict as its Northern cousin, but it still has a long way to go. Take for instance with its rules. There are some strange ones here, beware. Even schools in South Korea follow a strict set of rules and while for those kids it seems all natural, it is for the rest of the world that is seems super crazy!

NO VACATIONS!

South Korea is super focused on its education system and for most kids this system kind of gets overbearing. So when these kids slog their entire year off, you'd assume in the Summers they'd get a nice long break, right? NO! While the rest of the world schools give their children long summer vacations, South Korea believes its a waste of their study time!

NAPPING IN CLASS!

This is normal and not restricted - could you ever imagine? Well turns out South Korea's intensive education system takes a toll on the kids. So as a break, they are allowed short naps in School even during a lecture. While the rest of the world is condemned for this act, in South Korea, you are treated as just another hardworking kid! Wow!

NO SHOES PLEASE!

Asian customs believe that you mustn't wear your shoes in a space of meals, religious worship, inside others homes etc. If you visit any schools cafeteria in South Korea you would see these sit down kind of seats and low tables and a space where the kids can remove their shoes.

CLEAN YOUR OWN SCHOOL!

South Korea instills a very high sense of responsibility and independence in its citizens. Children too are a part of the same. So in most world schools, there are janitors or cleaning staff right? Not in South Korea. The children take the onus of cleaning the school themselves - In fact they get grades too!

LONG STUDY HOURS!

An average South Korean student studies about 12 hours a day - That is literally half the day spent in studies. Like said earlier, South Korea's education system is super intensive thus these long hours, extra classes, competitive tests etc are a part of their children's lives!

NO HOMECOMING PLEASE!

Like in America, you have a "Homecoming" ceremony where everyone dresses up well, gets to pick a date and dance with the same. End of the High School means this celebration is a must. But not in South Korea. They believe it is unnecessary and a total weird ceremony. In fact most schools have banned it officially!
