There are many people who try DIY’s and stuff but this architect tried the same but on a bigger scale. She made the ruins of the public restroom and made it into a more awesome home that you might not even get a glimpse that it was a washroom once. One could never imagine that a place like a restroom, a public one for that matter, be transformed into such a beautiful, magnificent home. They are a lot of places other than a restroom to make a new but this architect chose this place and made it from abandoned to a desirable place.

The Unconventional Design!

You must be aware of this incredible design, Casa Milà (or La Pedrera) by Antoni Gaudí. It is one of the world's most visited buildings. It's uniqueness made the UNESCO declared it to be the World Heritage Site. But the story behind this unconventional piece is quite impressive.

The extraordinary site

Well, after knowing which site this is built on will literally make you wonder if this was even possible. The bizarre construction was something too impossible to believe. It was a restroom that was modified into this beautiful house. Meet the one who made this, Laura Jane Clark!

Laura Clark

Laura is an English architect who is a specialist in the residential transforming and extensions and new buildings. She even designs her own furniture and interior items by collaborating with the artists and she even has many awards in her kitty for her creative works.

Abandoned Toilets

Laura moved to London in 2005 and that was the first time she discovered many abandoned public toilets. Laura told  The Telegraph,

“I’ve always loved the idea of micro-regeneration. For me, that’s about saving sites with an interesting history of which have been abandoned and forgotten".

When she shared this idea with her family and friends, she received many criticisms and they also laughed at them.

The start...

These restrooms were used last in 1980 while it was built in 1929. But they were just abandoned and are of no use which is why she took this project.

This was totally filled with the rubbish and they were ruins.

But Laura had different plans and so she made collaborated with the builders and workers, and started her journey towards this incredible house.

The completion...

Laura further explained, “I ended up doing a lot of the laboring work myself because it was such horrid, hard work that I struggled to keep people on the job." After months of hard work, and after spending almost $65,000 the construction was finally complete.
