Imagine what a man must've gone through if he had worked on something for almost 2 decades. Can you imagine the glory this man had made after giving his life to this project for 2 long years. When we say inside is incredible, it indeed is!

Johan Huiber

If one thing you got to learn from Johan Huiber, it's his dedication. This man gave twenty years of his life to building this massive ark.

The Dutch contractor grew up in the province of Noord-Holland, which is surrounded by water on three sides—and his fascination with the ocean goes back to childhood. Explains a lot why he was so inclined towards this Ark!

Since 1992!

The origin of Johan’s enormous ark dates back to 1992. That’s when the carpenter started researching Noah’s ark so he could one day build his own. He did all sorts of preparations. Right from reading books about it to watching documentaries, every thing was done and dusted.

Johan’s first version, built at the port of Schagen between 2005-2007, was 70 meters long (230 ft) and cost 1 million euro to build. But guess what, this wasn't the only Ark he built!

Bigger And Better

Later. he went on to achieve bigger and better things in life. In 2012, he completed a bigger project: Johan’s Ark! This project was always in making and took a lot of years to complete.

The ark is currently docked in Dordrecht, The Netherlands. It cost more than 4 million euro to build and sits on a steel platform made of 21 barges. Now these are some crazy numbers, aren't they?

More Specifics

The ark can be pulled along inland waterways by tugboats, but needs to be transported on top of a pontoon or transport ship to cross oceans. Just to give you more specifics, the new ark is 119 meters (390 ft) long, 30 meters (98 ft) wide, and 23 meters (75 ft) high.

Under Construction!

Over the past 4 years, there have been over 280,000 visitors. And when you look inside, it’s easy to understand why! Here's a snap of when this ark was under construction!

Stunning!

And here's the beauty from inside. Is it stunning or what?
