No One In The World Has Captured This 3200 Year Old Tree In One Image Till Now!

Trees age with grace. Over time not only do their bodies get stronger but they also gain a lot of height (atleast in most cases). This tree for instance shot up way more than expected, so much so that it can never really be clicked in one single image!

WHERE IS THIS?

America! Can you believe this? Well California's redwood forests are well preserved and contain large communities of trees here. One of them though, truly stands out and not just because of its sheer size!

WHAT IS UP WITH THIS TREE?

Aptly named "The President" this tree is the largest of its kind. Located on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this tree is the third largest in terms of volume and is roughly about 247 feet (75 mts). Would you believe it if we said that it still did not make it as the world's tallest tree?

SHEER MARVEL!

So at 45, 0000 cubic feet, this tree is literally the size of 127,800 cartons of milk. But this is not the main attraction. The main point of marvel is its age - Biologists believe the tree is a whooping 3200 years old!

CAN YOU IMAGINE?

Named after the American President Warren G. Harding in 1923, this tree is clearly the fascination zone for most biologists and archaeologists all over the world. But what is interesting is that this tree is still growing at a rapid speed every year. Biological studies revealed that this giant tree adds a cubic meter of wood to its mass annually.

THE BIG PROBLEM!

But here is where the problem is - This tree is so large, that it has never been fully captured in one single image by scientists and tourists alike. So naturally the point of intrigue with this one was major right?

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CAME TO THE RESCUE!

Until National Geographic decided to do something about this. The team of photographers from the National Geographic team used wires and ropes to climb this gigantic redwood tree. It took about 32 days for the picture to get completed and the total number of pictures used was 126!
