It is definitely something that you might have experienced. Being a mother, or being a child. It is not only to feed the baby but all the torture and pain that a mother goes through to nurture a baby and take care of it.

Breastfeeding is uncomfortable and messy from our perspective but for a mother, it is more than just a task at hand. A mothers inner consciousness tells a different story altogether. Ivette is a Lithuanian-born photographer. She chose this unusual subject because she still believes that breastfeeding is taboo. People are ill-informed that about the benefits of a mothers milk.

Ivette's views

Ivette Ivens said in an interview that, “It truly is the most perfect food and gift we can give a child. If people understood the benefits without being lambasted with propaganda for manmade milk, formula, etc. I believe they would view nursing as the most natural gift and not something to be sexualized.”

Her experience

Ivens didn't just decide that breastfeeding should be her subject for the lens. It is her experience that made her decide towards the unusual subject.

These raw intimate moments are what makes women more beautiful and a goddess of a person. Ivette Ivens is a mother of two little boys. Her experience of pregnancy itself was a happy one.

“The comments and degradation I encountered and heard from others prompted me to stand up and fight for what is right, and by this I mean for both the child and the mother! I thought this would be a beautiful venue for such a cause!” she says.

Criticism

Every mother faces criticism when it comes to breastfeeding their babies out in the open. it's not only men who oppose this, but even women are also against it in spite of knowing what a mother goes through.

With her photographs, Ivette hopes to break the stigma surrounding breastfeeding. The chaos that the society creates on a natural thing like breastfeeding, and making other things that need more attention, unnoticed.

She says...

Ivette Ivens says... “I learned how empowering and strong we are especially when we stand for a purpose together. Additionally, I learned how beautiful someone can suddenly feel when they are forced to look at themselves (from the photographer’s lens) in a new light!”

Strive to shatter

A mother is someone who understands her baby more than anyone else ever could. By showcasing breastfeeding, we strive to shatter the stigma that continues to surround it.

The baby's happiness

Every mother deserves to be in her comfort while she is trying to breastfeed her baby because only she knows how painful it is to experience it all and still feel content when her baby is peaceful. The smile on her face is like no other.
