Advertising can make or break a brand. Well, since it is the first connection point for any customer, it is important that brands focus on the right kind of advertising. We all live in a highly digital age, one where in the right kind of advertising is never conventional. In fact, these days, the more unconventional the format of communication is, the better. Now, it is so easy to go wrong here, right? Well, sometimes the strangest ideas work and look where it got these brands!
KITKAT
Kit Kat ran such a smart campaign for their chocolate bars. All they did was repaint some seats in a public park. While it added that extra quirky color to the park, it was also quite inviting to people to come, take a break - quite literally!
KRAKEN RUM!
This Caribbean Rum brand is known for not just making the quirkiest advertisements but also taking it one notch higher with their billboards. Take for instance this one - In 2013, Kraken used this really angry, black Octopus to market their Spiced Rum across Chicago. If you look closely you will realize why it was so unique. There is a human being dragged out of the windows in this poster and it looks shockingly real like!
MIELE VACUUM CLEANERS!
Miele is a vacuum cleaner company based around the world, but with its headquarters in Germany. So they made the most of their universal knowledge and created a billboard advertisement that looked like the vacuum cleaner was extending into the tunnel. For anyone driving in, it would literally seem like getting sucked into the vacuum cleaner. If people were not watchful, they may also literally get jitters looking at this ad!
NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC!
Would you ever take this escalator down? Well, we sure are doubtful. National Geographic decided to get a little too adventurous with this advertisement and got themselves a floor marking at a popular mall. What ensued was an escalator leading into a pool with a crocodile waiting to devour the people coming down. Super cool, but also very very scary!
FOLGERS COFFEE!
This Coffee brand knows how to keep it simple and effective. So they used man holes with steam coming out of it to make a point. All they did then was create graphics of coffee cups. A simple line then ready - Hey, City That Never Sleeps, Wake Up! Folgers!
NIKE!
Clearly Nike does not believe in the same principles as KitKat. While bench advertisements really seem to be popular, Nike kind of took it to the next level by removing the seats out of public benches all together. Now all people got was NIKE Run. Clearly the brand wants people to JUST DO IT!
