This little feature might have gone unnoticed when it was first invented but it is for sure the best one for the kids. They are quite clumsy at times with the objects that they get and they are inquisitive about it. The parents are not always around and it is not possible to always be around. And not only kids but the adults are also prone to accidents, because of their clumsiness.

Ballpoint pens

We all know what ballpoint pens are and we all love them, don't we? There are some people love them more than we do because they even love to chew them, while we only use it for writing purpose.

Did we ever really thought about why the cap on them looks the way it does? Well, In 1991, the BIC company presented the world with a new design solution for its pens which wasn't noticed by the majority of people: there was now a small hole in the top of the cap of their extremely popular Cristal Pen.

Launched Of The Design

In 1991, the BIC company launched the world with a brand new design solution for its pens which went unnoticed completely by the maximum number of people. There is a small hole in the top of the cap of their too popular Cristal Pen.

Saved Lives

All these years no one paid attention to this innovation. The decision to adopt this design has saved the lives of many children. More than a hundred children, to be precise.

Chewing Pen caps

Little children love to taste all kinds of objects which they are accessible to. Adults are no less even they love to chew on the cap of a pen when they’re concentrating intensely, or when nervous.

Helps the Windpipe

Lives are saved by a pen cap which can easily get lodged in a person’s windpipe, causing them to choke. During that situations, that little hole in the cap helps a person get enough oxygen during the time the ambulance is on its way.

BIC's decision...

BIC’s decided to adopt the design solution and was backed by all the other large manufacturers of pens. And while this was happening the British Standards Institution produced an amendment into its existing recommendations for this particular item’s production and use.
