It shouldn't be shocking that many renowned people had rather modest beginnings before they rose to fame. It's safe to claim that none of them resided in mansions, but instead in modest suburban or city flats, some of whom struggled and shared housing with friends or in vehicles.

Eminem

Eminem, a famous American rapper, grew up in a working-class, predominately black Detroit area. His boyhood house was really depicted on the covers of his Marshall Mathers LP studio albums from 2000 and 2013. Sadly, the house is currently in a terrible condition.

He presently lives in Rochester Hills, Detroit, in a 15,129 square foot house. The home has a tennis court, a lake, a pool, a launch dock, 6 bedrooms, 9.5 bathrooms, 21 rooms, a five-car garage, and a lake. Eminem paid 4.75 million US dollars for this property back in 2003.

Rihanna

Singer and actress Rihanna spent her childhood With her parents, two brothers, Rorrey and Rajad, and a tiny cottage in Saint Michael, Barbados. Since being well-known around the world, Rihanna has acquired a 6.8 million dollar mansion in Los Angeles that spans 7,130 square feet and has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

However, it appears that she has been living in London for the past few years and that her Los Angeles property has been rented out for $35,000 per month following a failed attempt to sell it.

Jimmy Fallon

Fallon, who was up in Brooklyn's Bay Ridge neighborhood, went on to become one of the most well-known late-night anchors and comedians of his generation. Fallon used to reside in his parent's modest two-story suburban home in Saugerties, New York, before purchasing his 5.7 million dollar, 3,500 square foot property in Sagaponack, Long Island, New York, which features a pool, horse stables, and a host of other comforts.

Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt is a bit of a peculiar entry in this list because he can trace his roots back to a house in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he and his family moved when he was just 7 years old. Ten years later, he made the adventurous decision to travel to Maui, Hawaii, where he worked in restaurants and lived out of his van. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris resided in their $3.35 million Hollywood Hills house for five years after they became well-known actors. The 4,500 square foot home included, in addition to many other opulent amenities, 4.5 baths, a saltwater pool, a spa, a gym, and a tennis court.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold was born and raised in Austria. His childhood home, a modest yellow two-story house in Thal, close to Graz, is now a museum devoted to his life and all of his accomplishments. Arnold is a renowned actor, former governor, and retired bodybuilder. Arnold currently resides in a 14,500 square foot mansion in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California that he purchased in the early 2000s and has seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, a tennis court, a gym (obviously! ), a plush home office, and much more.

John Travolta

Fun fact: American actor John Travolta is also a singer. You don't trust me? Check out his music on YouTube. Anyway, Travolta was the youngest of eight children and grew up in a three-story (really, two storey plus the attic) family home in Englewood, New Jersey, with his entire family.

Later in life, he and Kelly Preston settled into a residence in Anthony, Florida's "Fly-In" neighborhood of the Jumbolair Aviation Estates residential airpark with a private-use airstrip. Their home, which features docks for Travolta's aircraft and roadways, is thought to be valued roughly $5 million. He owns five of them in total as a qualified pilot, including a Boeing 707 called "Jett Clipper Ella."
