Every region around the earth has its own unique characteristics, in fact even the way people look is categorically different. Their styles are different and so are their values. It is quite interesting to see how features change magnanimously from place to place. In these nine countries for instance, the ideals of beauty are categorically different!
IRAN!
Iranian women care a lot about how they look and do not shy away from surgeries to "fix" what they think is imperfect. Take for instance nose surgeries. Rhinoplasty is a very popular medical procedure in Iran and most young women go ahead and get it done. It is expensive and mostly it is the upper middleclass and rich people who can afford it. However, women save and get it done so as to live up to social pressures of beauty.
SOUTH KOREA!
An ideal woman in South Korea would have flawless skin, pointed nose, large eyes and a heart shaped face. Plastic surgeries, no doubt, are some of the most sought after procedures in the country. Their idea of perfection is too hard to digest for most around the world, but then again, every country has a different standard!
MYANMAR
Long necks are considered the most beautiful feature for women in Myanmar. The Kayan community girls wear brass coils around their neck from the age of 5. They first put 6 rings and keep increasing them by one each year. During the time of their wedding, they are presented with the last ring. After getting married they stop adding rings to the stack. Due to these coils, a woman's neck can extend up to 40 cm. It is so huge and uncomfortable that they even find it difficult to turn their heads.
NEW ZEALAND!
The Maori adolescent women tattoo their faces, especially their chins as a mark of beauty. These tattoos would have stories of the clan, family history etc. and is usually treated as a scripture. So when someone from the tribe sees these women, they instantly know of the ancestors and the woman's heritage!
TAJIKISTAN!
Unibrows are considered the most beautiful aspect of a woman in Tajikistan and while most people around the world would find it weird, you'd be shocked to know that the women from this country even use additional herbs and medicines to ensure they always have a unibrow!
ETHIOPIA!

Their beauty traditions are so off the charts that most visitors actually get scared or cringe. Women, once they reach maturity, have to undergo a ritual where a disc is inserted into their lower lip. Her two lower teeth are removed so as to ensure there is enough space for the disc to sit well. The larger the disc more attractive she is to the men and will get more suitors. The tribe, Surma, also resorts to earlobe extensions using weights.
