Born into a family of 13 children in Mississippi, he worked for more than three decades at Kroger and has lived through over a century of American history. Even at his remarkable age, he remains mobile with the help of a cane.

A life spanning 110 years

Born on November 1, 1915, in Winston County, Mississippi, Major Jewel McDonald was one of thirteen children. In 1941, during the Great Migration, he moved to Ohio, living in the Cincinnati/Cleveland area.
