12 Bewildering Facts About Iconic Films!

When we watch any film, we are so engrossed in it that some of the most basic errors escape our vision. It is only when someone points it out that we end up revisiting these films and truly seeing it for what it is. Strange, but fascinating, isn't it?
FORREST GUMP!
This movie is undoubtedly a favorite not just for us but for a whole lot of them around of world. Not only is the movie well made, but also well researched and contemplated on. Take for instance this small thing of a shirt. Forrest is seen in blue chequered shirts at the beginning of each life phase - be it school, teenager and even when he is a grown adult. Forrest's son, towards the end of the movie also wears a similar shirt like his father!
THE GODFATHER!
This movie is undoubtedly a classic and created a space for niche cinema with untold stories. No one thought that gangster films could do this well, but it did rake in big bucks. Turns out, the film was more "real" than we give it credit for. In fact in the scene where Don Corleone is dancing during the wedding, the crowd around him was actually the underworld mafias with their families. In fact, the film proved to be iconic in the sense where most members of the underworld were actually cast for actual filming!
ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST!
In this American psychological comedy-drama film from 1975, everything is real and life like. So much so that even the hospital in which they shot is actually still a functioning Mental Asylum in Oregon. Well, there were actual patients used during the filming of this film too. Woah, this is one big revelation!
SILENCE OF THE LAMBS!
This movie is bound to send shivers down your spine. But would you believe it, even the poster did so. If you look closely, you'd see a skeleton surrounded by butterflies. Well, the skeleton itself is made up of 3 women who are baring it all! Creepy and shocking, isn't it?
SCREAM!
Ghost films can get real spooky. Well this one, did for a bit. Remember Edvard Munch's iconic oil painting - Scream? Well the figure in the image is distorted, screaming for its life with its ears closed. In the 1996 film, this same character is brought to life and called Ghostface. The resemblance is uncanny!
FRIENDS!
If you followed the show carefully or if you even watched just one episode, you'd know that Joey (Matt LeBlanc's character) was perpetually in debt. He owed most of his money to Chandler (Played by Mathew Perry) One of the fans, calculated this "debt" through the entire show and it came to a whopping $119,760. Tough friendship, guys!

In the film Terminator, there is a scene with Sarah Connor's identical twin sister, Leslie. In such situations, usually it is the same actor doing the role twice and later the frame is fixed in editing stage to show both the characters. In other cases, a body double is used for the scene. But this was not needed for this particular movie. The actress Linda Hamilton, actually has a sister who looks just like her and so the in the scenes which required a dual role, her sister just stepped in and played Leslie!
TEH DEVILS ADVOCATE!
The boxing match was real! Remember the sequence where Al Pacino and Keanu Reeves watch a boxing match? Well, the movie was filmed during an actual boxing match that took place in New York on October 4th, 1996. In that match, Roy Jones Jr. beat Bryant Brannon in the second round!
TOY STORY!
The carpet in Toy Story is inspired from a movie with a totally different genre and characters. If you closely notice, the carpet in front of Sid's room is exactly the same as those in the hotel in the movie The Shining. Jack Nicholson tried to kill his wife and son with an axe in that movie.
THE NEWSPAPER!!!
It is a fact that most "props" that are used for filming need to be approved, especially if they are some form of media material. This newspaper is no different. In the hit TV show Married...with Children, Ed O'Neill reads a newspaper in one of the scenes. Now, this series aired in 1987. Many years later, in 2007, the same paper was read in the movie No Country for Old Men. Years later, Ed O'Neill read the same paper again when he starred in Modern Family !
ANTHONY HOPKINS IN SILENCE OF THE LAMBS!
Anthony Hopkins is a genius and he plays his role with finesse in The Silence of the Lambs despite appearing on screen only for 16 minutes. The deranged , spooky Hanibal Lector, in fact actually blinks during this frame!
TITANIC!
When James Cameron's iconic film Titanic released, many people assumed it was more of the real stories of people's lives who were onboard and not really fictional. Well, people could have been actually right! Turns out, Jack Thayer Jr. was one of those who survived that eventful night and he could have been the prototype for the film's Jack Dawson. The real Jack was indeed traveling first-class and according to some sources, had an affair with a young actress who was onboard!
